06-Oct-2015 - The African Development Bank has published in the series "West Africa Policy Notes" a study on the energy sector in Togo. Entitled "Underlying Issues of Electricity Access in Togo", this research conducted by Carpophore Ntagungira, AfDB Principal Country Economist, draws up a status report on the production and consumption of electricity in Togo and provides recommendations for the sector to become more competitive and more inclusive.
05-Oct-2015 - The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda, Ruhakana Rugunda, lauded the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) for conducting a capacity-building training programme to equip government officials with the skills needed to negotiate favourable mining agreements. He reiterated the need for strengthened human capacity that is critical to facilitate Government’s efforts to maximize benefits from the extraction of natural resources in the mining sector.

01-Oct-2015 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group approved on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, two loans totaling US $141.71 million to finance the second phase of the Dar es Salaam Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System Project.
The US $97.42-million loan from the AfDB market window and the US $44.29-million loan from the Africa Growing Together Fund (AGTF)* will support Tanzania Government’s efforts to decongest the city of Dar es salaam.

01-Oct-2015 - On September 30, 2015, the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved a US $120-million corporate loan to support Ghana Airports Company Limited’s (GACL) capital investment programme. The programme entails the construction of a new terminal at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra, and rehabilitation of other airports managed by GACL including Kumasi, Tamale, Ho and Wa Airports. The loan is the first private-sector investment that the AfDB has financed in Ghana’s transport sector.

23-Sep-2015 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved a combined US $30 million soft loan to Benin, Côte d'Ivoire and Ethiopia to be utilized for membership subscriptions in the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI). This is a critical step and a prerequisite for ATI to commence its operations within these countries. Under the approvals, Benin and Ethiopia will each receive US $7.50 million, whilst Côte d'Ivoire will receive US $15.0 million.
