Tunisie : 120 millions d’euros de la Banque africaine de développement pour moderniser le secteur financier

16-May-2019 - Le Conseil d’administration de la Banque africaine de développement a approuvé un financement de 120 millions d’euros pour mettre en œuvre la seconde phase du Programme d’appui à la modernisation du secteur financier (PAMSFI II) en Tunisie. A travers l’appui au secteur financier dans son rôle de financement de l’économie, en faveur notamment des populations et acteurs économiques vulnérables, cette opération a pour but de favoriser les conditions nécessaires pour une croissance économique forte, résiliente et inclusive.

The Forum opened this week on the side-lines of Africa Utility Week. It entailed closed-door meetings, facilitated under Chatham House Rules. It was designed to foster dialogue through confidentiality and trust, enabling the utility heads to address pertinent industry challenges.

Burkina Faso: African Development Bank welcomes new nutrition champion, President Kaboré

15-May-2019 - The African Development Bank will this week welcome a new African Leaders for Nutrition (ALN) champion. A Bank mission is visiting Burkina Faso from 14 to 17 May 2019 to induct President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré into the ALN. The mission will use the occasion to present ALN’s progress and agree on a common nutrition roadmap for 2019-2020. The mission will be led by Oley Dibba-Wadda, director of human capital, youth and skills development.

Kenya: African Development Bank approves EUR 90 million to support the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company

15-May-2019 - The Board of the African Development Bank on 15 May 2019 approved a EUR 90 million loan to support the establishment of the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company (KMRC) to aid access to affordable mortgage loans by lower and middle income households. KMRC is a non-Bank financial institution designed to provide long-term funding and capital market access to local lenders, including commercial banks, and Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations to help consolidate the East African nation’s growing domestic mortgage finance market.

At a meeting with Congolese President Denis Sassou-Nguesso in his hometown, Oyo, some 460 km from the capital, Brazzaville, Adesina declared the Bank’s support for the country’s development plans.

Mozambique: African Development Bank comes through with climate risk insurance solutions post cyclone

13-May-2019 - Following the devastating cyclones, Idai and Kenneth, which hit the central and northern parts of Mozambique, its government requested support from the African Development Bank for long-term assistance on the management of climate disasters. A high-level mission led by Atsuko Toda, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Finance and Rural Development visited Maputo, Mozambique, from 28th  to 29th of April – the second mission by the Bank to the nation in the same month.

13-May-2019 - The Governing Committee of the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) has approved a funding allocation of $61.8 million for the African Development Bank’s Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) program. We-Fi is a partnership among 14 donor governments, eight multilateral development banks, and other public and private sector stakeholders, established in October 2017 and hosted by the World Bank Group.
