A Validation Workshop Follow-up on the recommendations of the EU-Africa Business Forum Working Group on Trade Issues is scheduled to take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria, July 23 and 24, 2008.
The event is being sponsored by the ACP Business Climate Facility, BizClim, and the African Development Bank.
The main purpose of the workshop is to improve the business climate in ECOWAS by effectively engaging and promoting the private sector as a catalyst in designing and implementing ECOWAS Trade Facilitation policies. The workshop will follow-up on key recommendations endorsed at the second EU-Africa Business Forum held in Accra in June 2007. The programme aims to endorse practical actions and tools that will:
- Strengthen the private sector’s capacity to engage in policy formulation and monitoring
- Improve inter-African trade and investment, with particular attention on Non Tariff Barrier’s and Trade Taxes
- Review the feasibility of setting up a "SOLVIT-like" Alternative Dispute Resolution platform within ECOWAS.
