14-Dec-2004 - The AfDB Vice-President for Central and West operations, Mr. Bisi Ogunjobi, and Congo Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget, Mr. Rigobert Andely, signed today in Tunis a grant agreement of US$ 51.1 million (33.3 million Units of Account or 26 billion FCFA) to finance an arrears clearance programme. Mr Ogunjobi and Mr. Andely also ratified an African Development Fund (ADF) loan agreement, to support the Policy Reform Programme, reaching US$ 10.7 million (UA 7 million).

13-Dec-2004 - The common sector goal is to improve the population’s access to electricity in Ethiopia and Djibouti through regional cooperation in the energy sector within the context of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) programme. 10-Dec-2004 - The AfDB Group Vice President for North, East and South Operations, Mr. Theodore Nkodo, and the Ambassador for Mozambique in Portugal, S.E.M Gregorio Leao Jose, signed a loan agreement in Tunis on Friday, December 10, to finance the second Program of Economic Reform and Good Governance for Poverty Reduction in Mozambique amounting to US$ 50 million (30 million Units of Account).

ADF Helps Improve Control of Communicable Diseases in Madagascar

08-Dec-2004 - The grant of 6 million Units of Account (9 million US dollars) will be used to enhance safe blood transfusion and improve the quality of preventive and curative medication against communicable diseases (HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis and hepatitis). The project will comprise the establishment of an operational blood transfusion network; improvement of access to services for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of communicable diseases. It also includes national capacity building for epidemiological surveillance.
