09-Sep-2021 - The African Development Bank Wednesday joined leaders of government and international organizations in calling for stronger partnerships to support Africa’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic at the first Egypt-International Cooperation Forum. Participants also urged greater cooperation with the private sector in the short term to secure more rapid vaccine access for Africans. After years of witnessing fights over water, a family’s life is transformed in a refugee camp in Zimbabwe
08-Sep-2021 - For years, Josephine Mbayo watched as fights broke out in her community over water. “There was only one hand pump for all the sections that everyone queued at to get water from as early as 4am,” says the 48-year-old refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who lives in the Tongogara Refugee Camp in a semi-arid part of Zimbabwe. She arrived at the camp in 2012. “People would quarrel and almost physically fight for water at the bush pump,” she added.

Zimbabwe: A farmer harvests success in refugee camp
02-Sep-2021 - When Jean Damacene arrived at the Tongogara Refugee Camp in Zimbabwe, he was 38 years old and hoping to return to his country Rwanda soon. Eighteen years later, the maize farmer is married with children – a boy and five girls – who live with him in the camp. South Sudan: Country’s first oxygen plant comes on stream at Juba hospital to help fight Covid-19
01-Sep-2021 - South Sudan has begun producing oxygen following the successful installation of the country’s first oxygen plant at Juba Teaching Hospital, set up with funding from the African Development Fund. The oxygen plant was procured as part of measures to support the country’s ongoing Covid-19 response with a grant from the African Development Bank Group’s concessional lending arm. The project was implemented by the World Health Organization (WHO) on behalf of the government.

28-Aug-2021 - Participants of a G20 Compact with Africa meeting this week assessed Africa’s progress in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. “We are meeting at a pivotal time in the relationship between Africa and the rest of the world,” said Italian prime minister Mario Draghi. The Compact with Africa is a G20 initiative that promotes macroeconomic, business and financing reforms to attract more private investment in Africa, including in infrastructure.
