Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa extends grant to speed countries’ energy transition ahead of COP26

26-May-2021 - The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) has extended a $1 million grant to help accelerate African countries’ transition to flexible green grids and other clean power solutions ahead of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP26, scheduled to be held later this year.

26-May-2021 - A water point attendant in Zambia’s capital Lusaka has a new role beyond filling up containers for residents at the community tap. John Nyambe spreads the word about the novel coronavirus – its dangers, and what residents can do to protect themselves. The role comes with a new title too – “coronavirus prevention ambassador.” Nyambe, 71, bears the title with pride. His message was especially vital in a city with a history of inadequate sanitation and disease outbreaks.

The Independent Review Mechanism releases its 2020 Annual Report

The report includes the results of the IRM’s complaints handling process, which consists of problem solving and compliance reviews. Uganda: African Development Bank signs $348 million in financing agreements for the rehabilitation and upgrade of two major roads

19-May-2021 - The African Development Bank and the Government of Uganda have signed two financing agreements totaling around $348 million for the improvement of road transport in Uganda.
