African Development Bank New Series of African Country Gender Profiles Show Progress in Addressing Gender Discriminatory Law
New reports the African Development Bank has produced on Benin, Djibouti, Somalia, Zimbabwe and Liberia show the countries have successfully put national policies in place to advance gender equality. At the same time, the Covid-19 pandemic has sharpened the challenges women face.
Prepared in collaboration with the countries and the international partner, UN Women, the Bank’s country gender profiles evaluate gender equality and offer recommendations to drive parity across a range of metrics. These include strategies to bolster the responsiveness of development initiatives.

African Development Bank Group President wraps up three-day visit to the UAE
African Development Bank Group President Dr Akinwumi A. Adesina wrapped up an official visit to the United Arab Emirates on Friday. The three-day visit covered engagements in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The visit—which took place alongside the World Government Summit and the closing days of Expo 2020 Dubai—explored potential partnerships for strategic investment in Africa between the African Development Bank Group and the UAE, in renewable energy, agriculture and food production.
