AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina calls on graduating class of Federal University of Technology Minna to create a new, greater, and more dynamic Nigeria

The Federal University of Technology Minna has awarded the President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina an honorary doctorate. The honor was conferred at the institution’s 38th Founders’ Day and 30th Convocation ceremony of the University, in Minna on Wednesday.

Adesina joined three others honorary doctoral awardees, namely former Nigerian Head of State General Abdulsalam Abubakar (GCFR), Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, (CON) and Malam Mele Kolo Kyari.

African Development Bank sets course to close infrastructure gap with Board approval of its first public private partnerships strategic framework

Senegal’s Regional Express Train, co-financed by the African Development Bank, was launched in December 2021. The Bank has just approved a plan to accelerate its infrastructure drive.

 

The African Development Bank Group has taken a crucial step to further address the infrastructure gap in African countries, with the approval of its first strategic framework for the development of public-private partnerships. This follows approval by the Board of Directors of the Bank Group on 19 January 2022.

A water project in rural Zambia helps a little go a long way

Kamana Chinyunda is a 44-year-old woman from Chimboma, a village in the district of Kalabo in Zambia’s Western Province. When an official from Zambia’s Ministry of Water approached her village about forming a water committee, she was among the first people to volunteer her time. Village water committees manage the operation and maintenance of water facilities.
