AfDB and Mali Sign CFAF 23 Billion Budget Support Loan Agreement

Tunis, 15 October 2008 – The African Development Bank Group and the Malian government have signed an agreement for a budget support loan of 33 million Units of Account (UA*), about CFAF 23 billion to finance the country’s Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Support Programme (GPRSSP).

The agreement for the African Development Fund (ADF) loan was signed on Monday in Tunis by the Bank Group’s Vice President for Sector Operations, Zeinab El-Bakri and Mali’s Ambassador to Tunisia, M’Barakou Arafa Askia Toure.

US$ 23 Million AfDB Grant for Development of West African Monetary Zone

Tunis, 5 August 2008 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI) on Monday, in Tunis, signed a grant agreement of 14 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 23 million, to finance the West African Monetary Zone Payment System Development project, which aims at creating a single currency in the sub-region by standardizing the payment systems in The Gambia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

AfDB and Mali Sign US$ 52 million Agreements for Water and Sanitation Project

Tunis,  30 July 2008  - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday, 30 July 2008, in Tunis, signed a loan and grant agreements of 32 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 52 million (CFAF 22 billion) to finance a drinking water supply and sanitation project in Gao, Koulikoro and Segou regions of the country.

The Agreements were signed on behalf of the Bank Group’s Operations, Infrastructure, Private Sector and Regional Integration Vice-President, by Division Manager Ali Kies and Mali’s Ambassador to Tunisia, M’Barakou Arafa Askia Toure.

AfDB and BOAD Sign FCFA 28.7 Billion Investment Agreement

Tunis, 22 July 2008 – The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the West African Development Bank (BOAD) on Monday, in Tunis, signed a financial agreement comprising an equity participation, a line of credit and an institutional support amounting to CFAF 28.7 billion.

The support aims at strengthening BOAD’s financial and institutional capacity to consolidate its role as a sub-regional financial intermediary.
