Nigeria: Bank Group Supports Skills Training and Vocational Education Programme

Ouagadougou, 17 May 2006 – The African Development Fund (ADF) and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria today in Ouagadagou signed a loan agreement of 30 million Units of Account, (equivalent to US$ 44.2 million) to finance a Skills Training and Vocational Education Project in Nigeria.

The agreement was signed by Mrs. Zeinab El-Bakri, ADB Vice President of Operations, and Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Federal Minister Finance of Nigeria.

Ghana: AfDB Group Supports Accra Sewerage Improvement Project

Ouagadougou, 17 May 2006 – The African Development Fund and the Government of Ghana today in Ouagadougou signed a loan agreement of 46 million Units of Account, (equivalent to US$ 68 million or 606 billion GHC)  to finance the Accra Sewerage Improvement Project.

The agreement was signed by Zeinab El-Bakri, ADB Vice President of Operations, and Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of Ghana.

Guinea Bissau: ADB Group Supports Agriculture and Rural Rehabilitation Sector

Ouagadagou, 17 May 2006 – The African Development Fund and the Government of Guinea Bissau today in Ouagadagou signed a grant agreement of 5.8 million Units of Account, (equivalent to US$ 8.53 million) to finance an agricultural and rural sector rehabilitation project in Guinea Bissau.

The agreement was signed by Mrs. Zeinab El-Bakri, ADB Vice President of Operations, and Mr. Marcelino Owono, Minister of Finance and Budget of Guinea Bissau.

Sierra Leone: AfDB Group Supports Transport Sector

Ouagadougou, 18 May, 2006  - The African Development Fund and the Government of Sierra Leone today in Ouagadagou signed a grant agreement of 1.99 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 2.93 million, to finance the Maotoka to Sefadu Road Studies and Institutional Support Project. The project will contribute to the development of the transport sector which will support national economic and social development objectives.
