ADF Provides Grant for Control of HIV/AIDS in SADC Countries
Tunis 31 May, 2006 – The campaign to contain the spread of communicable diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has received a major boost from the African Development Bank (ADB) Group.
The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional loan window of the ADB Group on Wednesday approved a grant of 20 million Units of Accounts (UA*) equivalent to US$29.42 million, finance the control of communicable diseases (HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria) in the sub-region.
Malawi-ADF Supports Secondary Education Project
Tunis, 7 June 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional arm of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday in Tunis approved a grant of 15 million Units of Account (UA*) equivalent to US$ 22.41 million to finance an education project in Malawi.
AfDB, Cape Verde Sign Electricity Project Loan Agreement
The Bank Group and Cape Verde signed on Thursday, in Praia, an agreement for an ADF loan of 4.82 million Units of Account* (UA) to help finance an electricity production and transmission project on Santiago Island.
The AfDB Resident Representative in Senegal, Mohamed H’Midouche, signed on behalf of the African Development Fund, the soft loan arm of the African Development Bank Group, while the Minister of Economy, Growth and Competitiveness, Jose Brito, signed for his country.
AfDB, DRC Sign US$ 58 Million Grant Agreement for Inga Power Station Rehabilitation
The Bank Group signed on Thursday in Tunis a grant agreement of 35.70 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 58 million, to finance the Inga hydro-power stations, the Kinshasa distribution network and a rehabilitation and upgrading project (RDPMDP).
Supplementary loan for Ain Beni Mathar Thermo-solar Station
Rabat, 7 April 2008 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Vice President for Finance, Thierry de Longuemar, Morocco’s Economy and Finance Minister, Salaheddine Mezouar and the Director General of the country’s National Electricity Corporation (ONE), Younes Maamar, have agreed to proceed with the signing of a supplementary loan and project guarantee agreement for the Ain Beni Mathar power station in Morocco.
