AfDB approves US$ 64 million for three Major Road Projects in Ghana

Tunis, 16 December 2008 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved supplementary loans of 43.10 million Units of Account (UA*), about US$ 64.13 million, to help finance the rehabilitation and upgrading of three major highways in Ghana.

The Tema-Aflao Rehabilitation Road project and the Akatsi-Dzodze-Noepe Road Upgrading project are aimed at promoting regional integration as well as contributing toward the government’s goal of poverty reduction and economic development by reducing travel time and vehicle operating costs.

Prêt de 64 millions de dollars à la Guinée Equatoriale pour la formation des cadres

Tunis, le 11 décembre 2008 – Le Conseil d’administration de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a approuvé ce 11 décembre 2008 un prêt de 64,8 millions de dollars US à la République de Guinée Equatoriale pour le financement du Programme de Formation des Cadres Moyens et Supérieurs.

Le Programme, prévu sur cinq ans, d’un montant total de 147,4 millions de dollars US, financé à 56% par le gouvernement, vise à mettre en place un dispositif innovant de formation technique et professionnelle des cadres moyens et supérieurs répondant aux besoins de l’économie du pays.

Bank Group Approves €70 Million Loan to Finance Medical Coverage Reforms in Morocco

Tunis, December, 11th, 2008 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB), on Thursday 11 December 2008 in Tunis, approved a 70 million Euros loan to finance the Kingdom of Morocco’s Phase II Program Support for Medical Insurance (PARCOUM II), to be implemented over a period of two years (2009-2010).

Kenya - ADB Private Sector supports Titanium Mining

USD 40 million to Kwale Titanium Mine Project

Tunis, 26 July 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (ADB) today approved a loan of US $ 40 million to Tiomin Kenya Ltd. for Tiomin Titanium Mine Project in Kwale, near Mombassa, Kenya. The project involves dry mining and processing of titanium-bearings sand into ilmenite, rutile and zircon. The project is a significant contribution to the diversification of the Kenyan economy and the promotion of non traditional exports.
