AfDB to Host Great Lake Region’s Special Fund for Reconstruction and Development

Tunis, 26  March 2008 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) on Wednesday in Tunis approved a proposal for the Bank Group to administer and manage resources for a special fund set up for the reconstruction and development of the Great Lakes Region (SFRD). The request will be submitted to the Bank Group’s Board of Governors for final approval.

Côte d’Ivoire Re-engages with Development Partners

Tunis, 7 March 2009 – The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and Côte d’Ivoire on Friday, March 6, 2009, signed three grant agreements worth CFAF 248 billion, that have enabled the country clear its debt arrears to the institution and re-engagement with development partners.

The first agreement was on the Bank’s contribution worth CFAF 184 billion to the country’s arrears clearance. The other agreements with a combined value of CFAF 64 billion aim at supporting the country’s economic and financial reform programme through budget support.

ADF Approves US$29.6 Million Budget Support Loan for Poverty Reduction in Zambia

Tunis, 29 November 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, approved on Wednesday in Tunis a loan of  20 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 29.6 million to finance a budget support programme for poverty reduction in Zambia.

AfDB Approves US$ 22.77 Million Debt Relief for The Gambia, endorses AfDB-World Bank Joint Assistance Strategy

Tunis, 26  March 2008 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), on Wednesday in Tunis approved debt relief of  US$ 22.77 million in nominal terms for The Gambia, from January 2001 to July 2013, following the country’s qualification for the enhanced Highly Indebted Poor Countries Initiative (HIPC).

ADF promotes Good Governance in Tanzania

The grant of 4.797 million Units of Account (US$ 7 million), which was approved today by the ADF, will support reforms that are expected to be undertaken under the Poverty Reduction Support Loan (PRSL), the budget support operation that was approved by the ADF Board of Directors in October 2004.

The project will contribute to improving economic growth in Tanzania by improving the management of public finances and enhancing the efficiency of the legal sector and judiciary system in Zanzibar, where good corporate management practices will be enhanced.
