New AfDB Assistance to Post-Conflict Countries Policy: AfDB Clears Congo’s Arrears

The grant of 33.3 million Units of Account (US$ 50 million or 26 billion FCFA) today approved by the ADB Group will allow for rapid resumption of Bank Group assistance to the country in conjunction with the International Financial Institutions and the Donor community. This intervention lies within the framework of the new ADB Group assistance to post-conflicts countries, approved on 19 July 2004.

AfDB Board Approves the Establishment of ClimDev-Africa Special Fund

Tunis, 2 December 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB), on 2 December 2009, in Tunis, approved the establishment of the Climate for Development in Africa (ClimDev-Africa) Programme Special Fund (CDSF).  The Board of Directors approval is however subject to the ratification of the Board of Governors, upon which a Governing Council shall be created to provide technical oversight of the CDSF while its broad implementation shall be subject to rules and procedures of the Bank.

ADF Approves US$ 118 Million Grant for Protection of Basic Services in Ethiopia

Tunis, 20 December 2006 – The Board of Directors of African Development Fund (ADF) the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday in Tunis approved a grant of 78.49  million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 118.34 million, to finance the Protection of Basic Services Program (PBS) in the country.

Ghana Reaches Completion Point in HIPC Initiative: Obtains major debt relief from the ADB

The Bank Group will, as a result, provide irrevocable debt relief of US$ 131 million in net present value (NPV) terms to the country. Ghana will be released from up to 80 percent of annual debt service to the Bank Group until the entire amount is delivered sometime in January 2013. In practical terms, its 2004 debt service obligations, for example, will fall from about US$ 25.15 million to about US$ 5.03 million.
