Republic of Congo: ADF Grant to Help Improve Poverty Monitoring Indicators
Tunis, 20 December 2006 –The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund on Wednesday in Tunis approved a grant of 2.55 million Units of Account* (US$ 3.9 million or CFA 1.9 billion) to finance the Expenditure Circuit and Poverty Indicators Improvement Support Project.
AfDB Finances a Solar Thermal Power Station Project
It seeks to extend electric power generation facilities and develop renewable forms of energy. The specific objectives are to contribute to ensuring steady supply of electricity to the country, diversifying energy sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It will help raise the installed production capacity of the national electricity authority (ONE) from 200 to 250 MW and to inject about 1,590 GWh into the interconnected system, including 55 GWh from solar energy.

Le vice-président pour les opérations des régions Centre et Ouest du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD), M. Bisi Ogunjobi, et M. Grégoire Laourou, ministre des Finances et de l’économie du Bénin ont signé, à Tunis aujourd’hui, trois accords de prêt pour un montant total de 19,78 millions d’unités de compte (29, 6 millions de dollars EU). Ces accords concernent deux projets nationaux: un projet de réhabilitation de la route Pobé-Kétou-Illara et un projet d’alimentation en eau potable et d’assainissement en milieu rural.

The ADF grant (6 million Units of Account or US$ 9 million) seeks to stem HIV/AIDS/STI transmission in and amongst the IOC member states. The Support Project to the Regional Initiative for HIV/AIDS/STI Control in IOC Member Countries will target the migrant populations (migrant/seasonal workers, tourists, seafarers…) that move from island to island, along with the local populations with which they come into contact at ports, tourist locations and hotels…
Senior loan of up to Euro 55 Million to Sendou Power Project in Senegal
Tunis, November 25, 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved a senior loan of up to Euros 55 million to finance the Sendou Power Project in Senegal. The Bank is mandated to arrange a total senior debt of up to EUR 117 million. The senior debt will have maturities of up to fourteen years including a grace period of two years.
