AfDB Approves Funding for Burundi-Rwanda-Tanzania Railway Project Study
Tunis, 17 November 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the AfDB Group approved in Tunis on Tuesday, 17 November 2009, combined loans and grants worth USD 8.15 million to finance a multinational Railway Project Study in Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
The second phase of the Dar es Salaam-Isaka-Kigali/Keza-Musongati Railway project study will cover the existing 970-km Dar es Salaam-Isaka railway link and its extensions.
Regional Technical Assistance Centers Program (Afritac) – Phase II US$ 4.5 million ADF Grant
Tunis, 20 December 2006 –The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund on Wednesday in Tunis approved a grant of 4.5 million US dollars as the Bank Group’s participation in the second phase of the Regional Technical Assistance Centers Program (Afritac).
ADF Approves US$ 23 Million for Distance Learning in Southern Africa
Tunis, 20 December 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) on Wednesday in Tunis approved a grant of 15 Million Units of Account (UA), equivalent to US$ 22.6 million, to finance capacity building in an Open and Distance Learning Project (ODL) in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).
Water and Sanitation: Morocco Gets AfDB Support
The loan of 56.2 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to 66.5 million euros, will be used to help improve the living conditions of the population by providing them with drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities.
The project aims at ensuring sustainable supply of drinking water to several towns and cities, to the new tourist and port complexes. It will improve access to drinking water in rural areas that are not on the supply network as well as improve hygiene.
Madagascar Obtains Debt Relief from the AfDB: Reaches Completion Point in HIPC Initiative
The Bank Group will, as a result, provide irrevocable debt relief of US$ 80 million in nominal terms to the country, with effect from December 2001. The debt relief will be provided by releasing Madagascar from up to 80 percent of its debt service obligations to the Bank Group each year, until the entire amount is delivered sometime in early 2013.
