Uganda: USD 16 million for Rural Income Project
Tunis, 17 November 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) approved on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in Tunis, a UA 10.21 million (USD 16.23 million) loan to finance a Rural Income and Employment Enhancement Project (RIEEP) in Uganda.
The objective of the project is to help reduce rural poverty in Uganda by facilitating access to and utilization of affordable financial and business development services for an estimated 1.4 million rural poor in the country’s districts.
AfDB Supports Tunisian Road Network Development
The project aims to reduce transport costs by improving the capacity of paved roads and reducing their width constraints in order to promote the development of intra- and inter-regional trade. The ADB loan will enable the rehabilitation works of 1,256 km of roads of the classified network and the widening of the roads to 7,60 m or more. Monitoring capacity of the road network and supervision of maintenance works will also be strengthened.
Water And Sanitation: ADF Supports Uganda’s Small Towns
The objective of the project is to improve the quality of life and enhance national economic development by ensuring sustainable management of the country’s water resources and provision of adequate water for all. This will enhance the standard of living and promote development in the seven small towns that will benefit from the project.
The project involves the provision of adequate water supply and sanitation to the towns concerned, solid waste management, storm water drainage and community mobilization and health education
ADF / Tanzania: District Agriculture Sector Investment Project : Increases income of 500,000 rural households
The ADF today approved the funding of the District Agriculture Sector Investment Project with a loan of 36 million Units of Account (US$ 54 million or 56 billion Tanzanian Shillings) and a grant of 7 million Units of Account (US$ 10.5 million or TZS 11 billion).
CAR: USD 16 M for Water and Sanitation Project
Tunis, 3 November 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved, 3 November 2009 in Tunis, an African Development Fund (ADF) grant of UA 7 million and a Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative (RWSSI) grant of UA 3 million to finance drinking water supply and sanitation in three divisional headquarters and surrounding rural areas in Central African Republic (CAR).
