The Board of Directors of the ADF approved in Tunis on Wednesday, a grant of 790,000 Units of Account (UA*); equivalent to 1.2 million US dollars to finance Institutional Support to the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MOFDP) and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPWT).

The study will contribute to meeting drinking water and sanitation needs in a sustainable manner so as to improve the socio-economic and health conditions of the rural population with the implementation of the DWSS programme.

The three operations amounting to 36.66 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to 54.95 million US dollars will finance the Inland Lakes Integrated Development and Management Support Project (PAIGELAC) and the Poverty Reduction Strategy Support Loan phase 1.

The agreements were signed by Mr. Bisi Ogunjobi, the ADB Group Vice President for West and Central Operations and Mrs. Monique Nsanzabaganwa, Secretary of State in charge of economic Planning of Rwanda.

Tunis, 3 November 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved on Tuesday, 3 November 2009 in Tunis, a loan of USD 123 million (Units of Account 77.92 million) to finance  the Small Towns and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation project in Kenya.

The project addresses the water supply and sanitation problems in a number of small towns and the provision of water storage in Yatta area.

Tanzanian President Benjamin M’Kapa today opened the second Africa Workshop on Harmonization, Alignment and Managing for Results, urging participants to intensify the coordination and harmonization of their activities in order to accelerate development and poverty reduction, and facilitate the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
