Tunisie : la BAD finance une étude sur la protection contre les inondations

Tunis, le 7 octobre 2009 – Le Conseil d’administration de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a approuvé, le 6 octobre 2009 à Tunis, l’octroi d’un don d’un montant de 579 558 Unités de comptes (UC), soit l’équivalent de 625 923 euros, afin de financer une étude de protection contre les inondations des zones nord et est du grand Tunis.

Regional Integration: ADF Seeks to Connect Dar Es Salaam to Kigali by Rail

The study on the Isaka (Tanzania) - Kigali (Rwanda) railway, for which the ADF today approved funding in the tune of 1.66 million Units of Account (US$ 2.4 million, equivalent to RWF 1.4 billion or TZS 2.6 billion), will contribute to the creation of a transport community program which is efficient and economical and which promotes regional economic integration.

The study aims at determining the optimum solution for the operation of a railway line between Isaka and Kigali on the "Central Transport Corridor" with a view to opening up Rwanda.

Egypt: AfDB Approves € 53 Million Loan to Finance Waste Water Treatment Project

Tunis, 7 October 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved on Wednesday, 7 October 2009 in Tunis, a loan of Euro 53.33 million, equivalent to 48.56 million Units of Account (UA) to finance the Gabal El Asfar Waste-water Treatment Plant (GAWWTP) Project in Cairo, Egypt.

The project objective is to improve the quality of waste-water discharged into the drainage system in Cairo East, thereby contributing to improved sanitation and a clean environment for nearly 8 million people living in the area.

ADF Supports Post-War Reconstruction in Sierra Leone - ADF Grant will strengthen Public Finance and Energy Sectors

The Board of Directors of the African development Fund (AfDF), the concessional window of the ADB Group, on Wednesday in Tunis, approved a grant of 2.79 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to 4.10 million US dollars to strengthen the country's public finance and the energy sectors.

Sierra Leone witnessed a brutal war between 1990-2000 that displaced half of its population, disrupted the economy and destroyed the infrastructure including the public electricity supply system.
