Sierra Leone: Economic Recovery and Health Projects
Tunis, 17 October 2005 - The African Development Bank (ADB) Group and the government of Sierra Leone have signed agreements under which the country will receive 27.7 million Units of Account (UA) (US$ 42 million) in grants from the African Development Fund (ADF) to finance economic recovery and health development programmes.
The Vice President of the ADB Group in charge Central and West Region Operations, Mr. Bisi Ogunjobi and the Ambassador of Sierra Leone to Libya, Dr. Mohamed Samura, signed the two agreements in Tunis on Monday.
Niger Reaches Completion Point in HIPC Initiative: Obtains major debt relief from the AfDB
The Bank Group will, as a result, provide irrevocable debt relief of US$ 50.01 million in net present value (NPV) terms to the country. Niger will be released from up to 80 percent of annual debt service obligations to the Bank Group until the entire amount is delivered in July 2024.
AfDB Invests US$ 10 Million in West Africa Emerging Market Fund
Tunis, 16 September 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday, 16 September 2009 in Tunis approved a US$10 million investment in the West Africa Emerging Market Fund (WAEMF). The investment makes the AfDB one of the lead investors in the Fund, at par with the CDC (Commonwealth Development Corporation) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
ADF-Ghana: Poverty Reduction Support
The African Development Fund Vice-President in charge of Operations in West and Centre Regions, Mr. Bisi Ogunjobi, and Ghana’s deputy finance minister, Mr. Kwaku Aguyeman-Manu, signed an agreement today in Tunis for a loan of 44 million Units of Account* (US$ 64 million) to finance the country’s Second Poverty Reduction Support project (PRSL-II).
AWF Approves Grant for Regional Water Policy in ECCAS
Bank Group President, Donald Kaberuka, has approved a €1,430,000 grant from the African Water Facility (AWF) for the implementation of the regional water policy within the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS). Estimated at € 2,263,000, the project will attract €1,430,000 from the African Water Facility, while IPPF-NEPAD will contribute €490,000.
