AfDB provides Emergency Assistance to Asian Tsunami affected East African Coast Countries

The Acting Vice President for the North, South and East operations of the ADB Group, Mrs. Zeinab El Bakri, and the Ambassador of Seychelles to the Republic of France and the European Union, Mr. Callixte d’Offay, signed today in Tunis a grant for an amount of 330,000 Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 500, 000 to finance the Emergency assistance, a response for the December 2004 Asian Tsunami damages in Seychelles.

ADF supports Agricultural and Institutional rehabilitation in Sierra Leone

The Acting Vice President for the North, South and East operations of the ADB Group, Mrs. Zeinab El Bakri, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Libya, Mr. Mohammed Samura, signed today in Tunis a loan for an amount of 12 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 18 million to support the Agricultural Sector Rehabilitation Project (ASREP) and a grant for an amount of UA 2.79 million (US$ 4.2 million) to finance the Institutional Support Project to Strengthen the Public Financial Management and the Energy Sectors.

Rwanda Improves Food Security : An ADF project will help create 20,000 jobs

While improving the incomes of actors in the fisheries sub-sector in a sustainable manner, the project will contribute to strengthening food security in Rwanda, through a grant amounting to 1 million Units of Account (US$ 1.47 million or RWF 842 million) and a loan amounting to UA 13.76 million (US$ 20.21 million or RWF 11.6 billion).

AfDB Supports Mobile Telecom in Nigeria :US$ 30 million to finance Helios Shared Telecom Infrastructure Project

Tunis, 2 September 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group has approved a US$ 30 million loan to finance the Helios Shared Telecom Infrastructure Project in Nigeria.

The project consists of a countrywide expansion of a shared telecommunication infrastructure network. The provision of shared facilities by Helios Towers Nigeria (HTN) provides the opportunity for wireless telecommunication operators to roll out their network for a larger geographical coverage, while at the same time reducing their capital investments and operating costs.

Tunis, le 2 septembre 2009 – Le Conseil d’administration de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD), a approuvé, mercredi 2 septembre à Tunis, un prêt de 42,34 millions d’UC, équivalent à 87,83 million de dinars tunisiens (DT) (66,306 millions de dollars) en vue de financer le projet d’assainissement et de restructuration des réseaux de distribution d’électricité.
