ADF Helps Mali Improve its Balance of Payments
The ADF loan is a balance of payments support for use in financing goods and services imports originating exclusively from ADB Group member countries. Amounting to 8.6 million units of account (US$ 12.63 million), the loan will facilitate the implementation of additional reform measures under the third Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP III) and the new Cotton Sector Action Plan.

Mohamed Gharbi, vice-président du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement (Bad) chargé des opérations dans les régions Centre et Ouest, a estimé, lors de la cérémonie de signature, que « le renforcement des capacités humaines et institutionnelles est un besoin urgent pour le pays, en particulier dans le domaine de l’administration économique et financière ».
Middle Income Countries Consultations Meeting
Delegates from 14 Middle Income Countries (MIC) met in Tunis on 13 March 2006 at a consultation meeting jointly organized by the African Development Bank and the World Bank, to discuss recent initiatives undertaken by both institutions to enhance Multilateral Development Banks engagement with MICs, and identify constraints MICs face in their relationships with MDBs and steps required to remain relevant and help them meet their development challenges.
