African Development Bank Group resumes its assistance to Congo
Tunis, 14 December 2004 – The African Development Bank (ADB) Group clears 33% of Congo’s arrears and resumes its assistance to the country by supporting economic reforms programme.
Ghana Reaches Completion Point in HIPC Initiative: Obtains major debt relief from the AfDB

Tunis, 1st December 2004 –The Boards of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Development Fund (ADF) today agreed that Ghana had effectively met the conditions and reached the completion point under the enhanced framework of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative.
Framework for Implementation of Capital Adequacy Standards and Good Corporate Governance in African Banks
The Bank organized this workshop to facilitate a discussion on the issues and options among African bank supervisors, officials from other financial institutions and with international experts. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Association of African Central Banks and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Secretariat in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Financial Stability Institute of Basel provided technical support to the workshop.
XIIth Summit of NEPAD's HSGIC

The NEPAD's Heads of States and Governments Implementation Committee (HSGIC) meets on a regular basis to assess progress in NEPAD. The Bank participates in these meetings, as a core NEPAD stakeholder and technical adviser. During the XIIth Summit, held in Algiers, the Bank's President made an intervention. In addition, a report was prepared by the Bank for the Summit.
The AfDB encourages Development Finance Institutions network in Southern Africa region
The African Development Bank in conjunction with four partner institutions: the Southern African Development Community- Development Finance Resource Centre (SADC-DFRC), the Joint Africa Institute (JAI), the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) organized the SADC-Development Finance Institutions Risk Management Training Seminar in Cape Town from November 15 to 19, 2004.
