African regional report on Water Resources Development in Africa released
An African regional report on Water Resources Development in Africa prepapred by the African Water Facility was released by the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) during the 4th World Water Forum.
The report states that currently about 300 million people in Africa do not have access to safe water, about 313 million have no access to sanitation and over 88 million people are malnourished. This takes a heavy toll on the social and economic progress of African countries.
AfDB President Launches Institutional Reforms-Bank Adopts New Administrative Structure for Greater Delivery and Effectiveness
Tunis, 10 April, 2006 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has launched the first in a series of reforms that ensures an effective development and solid financial institution. The Board of Directors of the Bank Group on Friday approved a new structure ushering in the changes that will be implemented over the short and medium term, to turn the hitherto highly centralized institution into an agile body able to respond more effectively to the needs of member countries.
AfDB Approves FCFA 32 Billion Loan for Dakar-Diamniadio Highway
Tunis, 15 July 2009 – Senegal will receive a loan of CFAF 32.4 billion, equivalent to US$ 69.85 million (UA 45 million), to finance the Dakar-Diamniadio highway construction project, approved by the Board of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessionary window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, on Wednesday in Tunis.
Mozambique - US$ 20.64 Million Loan For Massingir Dam emergency Rehabilitation
Tunis, 15 July 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessionary arm of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, on Wednesday in Tunis, approved a US$ 20.6 million loan, equivalent to 13.3 million Units of Account*, to finance the rehabilitation of the Massingir Dam in Mozambique.
