African Virtual University: ADF Promotes Access to Quality Education in Africa
The Acting Vice President for the North, South and East operations of the AfDB Group, Mrs. Zeinab El Bakri, and the African Virtual University (AVU) Chief of Education, Mr. Peter Dzvimbo Kuzvinetsa, signed today in Tunis a grant agreement of 5.00 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to 7.66 million.
Rwanda: US$ 25 Million for Rural Water and Sanitation Programme
Tunis, 1 July 2009 – Rwanda will receive US$ 24.76 million (UA* 16 million) in the form of grants to finance the second phase of the country’s second 2009-2012 Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Sub-Programme (PNEAR).
The funding, comprising a UA 10 million African Development Fund (ADF) grant and a UA 6 million grant from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative (RWSSI) Trust Fund, was approved by the ADF Executive Board on Wednesday in Tunis.
ADF contributes to Education Sector Development in Eritrea
The Acting Vice President for the North, South and East operations of the ADB Group, Mrs. Zeinab El Bakri, and the Minister of National Development of Eritrea, Dr. Woldai Futur, signed today in Tunis a loan and grant agreement for the Support to Education Sector Development Program. The Bank Group’s contribution for the financing of this projects amounts to a loan of 13.6 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to 20.8 million US dollars, and a grant of UA 5.03 million, equivalent to US$ 7.7 million.

A cette occasion, le président de la Bad, M. Omar Kabbaj, a rappelé que les « approbations cumulées de la Bad au profit du Maroc s’élèvent à ce jour à 6 milliards de $ [environ 50 milliards de dirhams], pour le financement de 79 opérations ». « Un niveau d’engagement, a apprécié le président Kabbaj, qui constitue un indicateur éloquent du dynamisme et de l’exemplarité de la coopération entre la Banque et le Royaume du Maroc, de la convergence des efforts et des attentes pour le développement national. »
Burkina Faso Hosts 2006 ADB Group Annual Meetings
Tunis, 19 April 2006 – About 1,300 participants including Finance Ministers of the Bank Group’s 77 member countries, key economic actors in the public and private sectors, civil society groups and the media will participate in the ADB Annual Meetings to be held on 17 and 18 May 2006 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
