Sierra Leone: US$ 40.65 Million Grant for Lungi-Port Loko Road

Tunis, 17 June 2009 – The Africa Development Fund’s (ADF) Board of Directors has approved a US$ 40.65 million (UA 26.26) million to finance the upgrading of the strategic Lungi-Port Loko road link in Sierra Leone.

The 65-km road project, which forms part of the country’s economic development and poverty reduction strategy, aims at closing infrastructure gaps and promoting private sector growth.

Ouagadougou, 15 May 2006 – The President of the African Development Bank Group, Mr. Donald Kaberuka, has underscored the positive economic developments in Africa and stressed the need to sustain and deepen ongoing reforms.

Speaking to journalists in Ouagadougou ahead of the 17-18 May, 2006, Annual Meetings of the Bank Group, Mr. Kaberuka pointed to some encouraging indicators: higher growth rates in both oil and non-oil producing economies, improved macroeconomic management and overall governance, and a significant decline in areas of active conflict.

ADF, Madagascar sign agreements related to Good Governance and fight against AIDS

The ADB Vice-President for North, South and East operations, Mr. Theodore Nkodo and Madagascar Minister of Finances, Mr. Benjamin Radavidsonsigned in Tunis two grant agreements from the African Development Fund (ADF) to finance a project for the control of communicable diseases HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases STD, tuberculosis and hepatitis) and a project of Institutional Capacity Building for Good Governance (PRIBG)in the amount of about US$ 9 million, equivalent to UA* 6 million for each project.

Annual Meetings Ministerial Roundtable-Africa in Dire Need of Infrastructure for Integration and Growth

Ouagadougou, 16 May 2006 – African Ministers, heads of multilateral financial institutions, donor agencies and representatives of civil society took a hard look at the state of African economies on Tuesday and found that it would be difficult for the continent to achieve meaningful development without a fully developed and integrated regional infrastructure.
