Madagascar: US$ 15 Million for Manombo Irrigation Area Rehabilitation Project

Tunis, 21 November 2007 -  The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) on Wednesday in Tunis approved A loan and a grant with a combined value of  9.5 million Units of Account (UA*) , about US $14.933 million, to finance the Manombo Irrigation Area Rehabilitation Project (PRPIM). The UA 9.202 million loan and UA 298,000 grant will cover the projects’ entire foreign exchange expenses and 60.7% of expenditure in local currency.

Launching of the ADB Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative in Senegal

Tunis, 21 September 2005 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund approved on Wednesday a loan of 25 million Units of Account* (US$ 36 million) to finance the rural water supply and sanitation (RWSS) sub-programme in Senegal. This programme will enable some 800,000 rural people to benefit from improved water supply and sanitation in the regions of Louga, Ziguinchor and Kolda in Senegal.

AfDB Supports Demobilization and Reintegration in the Great Lakes Region

Tunis, 25 February 2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group Board of Directors has approved a grant of 14 million Units of Account (UA)*, equivalent to US$ 20.9 million, to help finance a Multi-Country Demobilization and Reintegration Transitional Support Program (MDRTSP) in the Great Lakes Region.

The Program aims at ensuring the effective reintegration of ex-combatants in the Great Lakes Region in order to improve prospects for peace building and economic recovery in the region.

Gambia: AfDB Supports Better Economic Management and Financial Governance

Tunis, 21 November 2007 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) on Wednesday in Tunis, approved a grant of 1.4 million Units of Accounts (UA*), about US$ 2.2 million, to the Gambia to finance the country’s Institutional Support Project for Economic and Financial Governance. The grant will cater for all foreign exchange and part of the local cost requirements for strengthening macroeconomic management.
