Senegal: Nearly One Million People to Benefit from Rural Water and Sanitation Programme Supported by the AfDB Group

Tunis, 18 February 2009–Nearly one million people will directly benefit from a rural drinking water and sanitation program initiated by the Senegalese government with the help of a loan of 30 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 44.76 million, approved on Wednesday in Tunis, by the Executive Directors of the African Development Fund, the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group.

Egypt: US$ 325 Million AfDB Loan for Abu Qir 1300 MW Steam Power Project

Tunis, 14 November 2007 – In line with its increasing focus on infrastructure development, the African Development Bank (AfDB) will support Egypt’s Abu Qir 1300 MW Steam Power Project following the approval of a loan of 214.49 million Units of Account (UA*), about US$325 million by the Bank’s Board of Directors on Wednesday in Tunis.

As at 30 June 2006, and after 39 years of cooperation with Morocco, the Bank Group had financed 83 operations, amounting to about 3.8 billion (42.5 billion Dirhams). In this portfolio, 74 operations have been completed, and 9 are ongoing. As at 30 June 2006, 83.4% of the 3.8 billion Euros of ADB’s net commitment in Morocco had been disbursed, making it a very good portfolio performance.
