Morocco: AfDB Approves €45 Million Loan in Support of Second National Rural Roads Programme (NRRP2)

Tunis, 5 September 2007 – Efforts by the Moroccan government to improve the country’s rural road network received a boost from the African Development Bank on Wednesday, in Tunis, following the approval of a 38.71 million Units of Account (UA*) loan, equivalent to €45 million by the Board of Directors of the Bank, in support of the country’s Second National Rural Roads Programme (NRRP2).

The Gambia: US$ 6 Million for Poverty Reduction Budget Support Program

Tunis, 8 February 2009 -  The Gambia government will benefit from a grant of 4 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 6 million, for the implementation of its Poverty Reduction Budget Support (PRBS) program, following an agreement signed by the African Development Bank Group and the government on Friday, 6 February 2009, in Tunis.

ADF Supports Skills Training and Vocational Education Programme in Nigeria

Tunis, 27 July 2005 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (ADB) Group, approved in Tunis on Wednesday, a loan of  30 million Units of Account* (US$ 44.2 million) to finance a Skills Training and Vocation Education Project in Nigeria.

The project, the first Bank Group operation in this sector in Nigeria, will contribute to poverty reduction through human resource development.

AfDB Private Sector Paves Way for Increased Local Currency Lending

Tunis, 5 September 2007- The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB), approved a US $ 25 million equity investment under its private sector window, on Wednesday in Tunis, to create a ground-breaking fund to develop local currency products. This Currency Exchange (TCX) will be established with a transaction capacity of US $ 1.2 billion.

Lesotho: US$ 16 Million for Electricity Supply Project

Tunis, 4 February 2009 - Efforts by the Lesotho government to improve electricity supply in the country received support from the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group which, on Wednesday in Tunis, approved a combined loan and a grant of 11 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 16.4 million, to finance the country’s Electricity Supply Project.
