AfDB Private Sector Operations in South Africa - AfDB extends US$ 500 Million Loan to Eskom Holdings Ltd

Tunis, 7 August 2007 – South Africa’s national electricity company, Eskom Holdings Limited, will benefit from the biggest loan ever granted by the Private Sector window of the African Development Bank (AfDB). The US$ 500 million program loan approved by the AfDB Board of Directors will help enhance the capacity of the South African utility through investment in generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure.

Gambia-US$ 6 M for Budget Support

Tunis, January 14, 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a UA* 4.0 million grant, equivalent to US$ 6.16 million, for the Gambian government to finance its Poverty Reduction Budget Support Programme (PRBSP).

The grant, which runs from 2008-2010, is disbursed as follows: UA 3 million from ADF-XI resources, and UA 1 million from AfDB’s surplus account for the Bank’s response to the food crisis on the continent.

DR Congo: US$ 22.7 Million ADF Grant for Post-Conflict Reintegration Project

Tunis, 24 July 2007 – The African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, will support a Post-conflict Socio-economic Reintegration Support project (PARSEC) in the Democratic Republic of Congo with a grant of 15 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 22.7 million approved by the Fund’s Board of Directors in Tunis on Tuesday.
