La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) en prenant une initiative de financement du commerce, en mars 2009, avait bien pris la mesure des défis croissants au commerce africain. La crise financière mondiale a  en effet entraîné une baisse prononcée du volume du commerce mondial. Ainsi pour 2009, selon l’OCDE, ce même commerce mondial va chuter de 13%. 

Tunis, 22 June 2005 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (ADB) has approved through its private sector window, a loan of US $ 85 million, in support of the environmental upgrading of "Société Anonyme Marocaine de l’Industrie du Raffinage – SAMIR".

Johannesburg, July 2, 2007- IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, and the African Development Bank (AfDB) will subscribe to a R2 billion Tier ll capital qualifying bond issued by Nedbank, the three institutions announced today.

Tunis, 22 June 2005 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved through its private sector window, a loan of 8 million Euro for the implementation of the Kounoune Thermal Power Project located at  Kounoune, 23 kilometers East of Dakar, Senegal. This project aims at increasing the current level of electricity supply at a competitive cost in order to meet the growing demand for electricity in Senegal.
