Madagascar: AfDB Approves € 6 Million Investment in Sahanivotry hydroelectric Power Station

Tunis, 05 July 2007 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a € 6-million private sector investment in the Sahanivotry hydroelectric power station in Madagascar.
AfDB Launches Water and Sanitation Project in Malawi
The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on May 28 and 29, 2009, launched a water and sanitation project in Lilongwe. The 5-year project, estimated at US$47.2 million, is part of the national water development programme being implemented by the Malawian government under the Irrigation and Water Development Ministry.

Tanzania: AfDB Approves €600,000 Equity Investment in Access Bank of Tanzania

Tunis, 5 July 2007 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group will support micro-, small- and medium-size enterprises in Tanzania through a private sector equity investment of €600,000 in the Access Bank of Tanzania approved by the Bank Group’s Board of Directors on Thursday in Tunis.
AfDB supports Agricultural Development in Mauritius
The Board of Directors of the ADB Group approved on Wednesday in Tunis, a loan of 7.74 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 11.77 million to finance the Northern Plains Irrigation Project. The project will ensure the construction of irrigation systems in the northern region of the country, which accounts for 20% of the national sugar cane production and 25% of the food crops.
