Mauritius: AfDB Development Budget Support Loan of US$ 30 Million to Finance Economic Reforms

Tunis, 28 March 2007 – The African Development Bank is supporting a programme in Mauritius aimed at putting the economy on a higher growth path and making it less vulnerable to external shocks. Toward this end, the AfDB Board of Directors today approved a budget support loan of US$ 30 million for the country. The loan marks the country’s re-engagement with the Bank since the last transaction in 1987.

President Kaberuka Addresses EU Ministers Meeting: Urges them to Increase Support to AfDB and other African Institutions

Leeds, U.K., 25 October 2005 – The President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Donald Kaberuka addressed an Informal Meeting of EU Development Ministers in Leeds on Tuesday,  and spoke about how EU can best support stability, prosperity, and development in Africa, in particular by working with  African institutions.

He urged the international community to deliver on their recent commitment to the continent in response to the positive developments taking place on the continent.

There is only 65 days left for the "year of development", he said.

African Development Bank Poised for Major Reforms: President announces important change agenda

ADB Group Prepares to Host Africa Infrastructure Consortium Secretariat

Tunis, 21 October 2005 – The African Development Bank (ADB) Group has begun to put in place the necessary structures and facilities required to host the secretariat of the Africa Infrastructure Consortium.

The inaugural meeting of the Infrastructure Consortium, which is composed of key African institutions and donors (1), was held on 6 October 2005 in London where the ADB was mandated to host the all-important Secretariat of the Consortium.
