2nd Short Term Action Plan Review

The workshop was organized from the 13th to 15th July, 2005 in Tunis, Tunisia. The purpose of this workshop was to review progress in the implementation of the Short Term Action Plan for infrastructure (STAP).

As part of the Bank’s mandate as lead institution for NEPAD infrastructure programs, the Bank undertakes yearly reviews of the progress in the implementation of the STAP.

First loan from Japan to support AfDB’s non-sovereign lending operations

Tunis, 21 February 2007 – African Development Bank (AfDB) Group’s Vice President for Finance, Mr. Thierry de Longuemar; Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Japanese Embassy in Tunisia, Mr. Hidekazu Nagasawa and the Resident Executive Director for Africa of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Mr. Izumi Arai, signed on Tuesday in Tunis, documents relating to the first loan from Japan to support the ADB’s non-sovereign lending operations.

Bank Staff Sensitization on NEPAD and APRM

The seminar was organized in Tunis, Tunisia on July 11-12th, in collaboration with the Bank's Human Resources Department. The purpose of the workshop was to sensitize Management and Staff on the NEPAD programs, and draw their attention, in particular, to the upcoming challenges in the implementation of the NEPAD and the APRM programs for the Bank. Staff also exchanged views on how to better internalize the programs in Bank operations.

The Honorary Chairman of the World Water Council nominated Head of the African Water Facility

Tunis, 8 July 2005 – At the occasion of the Water Facility Inaugural Governing Council Meeting, organized by the African Development Bank (ADB) on 8 July 2005 in Tunis, the Facility Governing Council has nominated its first President.  Dr. Abu Zeid, current Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation in Egypt, Honorary Chairman of the Founding Committee of the World Water Council (WWC), also Acting President of the Arab Water Council (AWC) will chair the African Water Facility Governing Council for one year term. Signature of a Cooperation Agreement between the ADB and the Central African Economic and Monetary Community: Strengthening Regional Integration

Tunis, 6 July 2005 – The African Development Bank (ADB) the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) today signed in Tunis, a Cooperation Agreement aimed at strengthening regional integration of the CEMAC member countries.  The agreement provides for the implementation of concerted programmes of action, consultations and exchange of information.

The Agreement was signed by Mr. Omar Kabbaj, President of the Bank Group and Mr. Jean Nkuété, Executive Secretary of CEMAC, who was accompanied by Mr. Mohamadou, Head of the Office of the Executive Secretary.
