The President of the African Development Bank Welcomes the G8 Initiative on Additional Debt Relief for Heavily-Indebted Poor Countries

Tunis, 16 June 2005 – The President of the African Development Bank, Mr. Omar Kabbaj, welcomed the agreement reached by G-8 Ministers of Finance to extend 100 percent debt stock relief on debt owed to the African Development Bank, the IMF, and the World Bank by heavily indebted poor countries that had reached their completion points under the HIPC initiative. He also urged othor donor countries to support the initiative.

ADB 2005 Annual Meetings Ends: Election of New President on 21-22 July in Tunis

An extra-ordinary meeting of the Board of Governors has been scheduled to take place at the Bank’s Temporary Relocation Agency in Tunis on 21-22 July to elect a president from the two candidates – Mr. Bisi Ogunjobi of Nigeria and Mr. Donald Kaberuka of Rwanda who led the list of six candidates standing for the presidency of the Bank.

Building Road Infrastructure for African Integration-US$ 92 Million ADF Loans and Grants for East Africa

Tunis, 9 February 2007 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has signed two loans and three grants agreements totaling 61.50 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 92 million with Kenya, Tanzania and two East African regional organizations, to finance road infrastructure in the region.
