Record Level of Support for the African Development Fund (ADF)
London, 11 December 2007 – Representatives from donor countries agreed today to a record level of support for the African Development Fund (ADF), the soft window of the African Development Bank. Over the next three years (2008-2010), the total resources available to the ADF will reach US$ 8.9 billion, an increase of 52% over the 2005-2007 period.
UK Urges International Community to Increase Aid to Africa
UK Minister for International Development, Shriti Vadera, on December 10, 2007, addressed the ADF-11 replenishment meeting in London. Following on from the UK decision to double its contribution to the ADF, Ms Vadera used the occasion to ask the donor community to similarly increase their commitments to development in Africa and to the AfDB in particular.
NEPAD-IPPF 7th Oversight Committee Meeting
The NEPAD-IPPF Special Fund Oversight Committee (OC) was set up under the instruments establishing the Fund to provide general policy direction, and to ensure effective governance for the activities of the NEPAD-IPPF Fund.
The objective 7th Oversight Committee Meeting is to discuss operational issues and future activities of the Facility. The meeting intends to provide a forum for follow-up on the recommendations of the 6th Oversight Committee and review progress in the implementation of key projects supported by the fund to date.
