Burkina Faso will host AfDB Group Country Office

This ceremony is "a crucial moment in the reinforcement of the cooperation relationships, already excellent, that link the Bank Group to Burkina Faso"; the ABD President said.

In the framework of the ADB’s decentralization policy, Burkina Faso is part of a group of 25 countries which will shelter the field offices improving management and follow-up of the Bank projects and programmes and ensuring a better quality of assistance and dialogue to the member countries.

African Development Bank and World Bank jointly review their assistance to Uganda

With the basic approach agreed, the preparatory work for this "joint-CAE" begins in the week of 5-9th November with the series of video conference between Tunis and Washington, led by OPEV’s Principal Evaluation Officer, Mr. Turay Foday on the African Development Bank’s side. A joint field mission is expected to be conducted in January 2008 and the report is due in mid 2008.

AfDB Scales Up Support toward Attainment of the Millennium Development Goals

The African Development Bank Group has scaled up its intervention mechanisms in support of the regional members countries to enable them achieve the Millennium Development Goals set out by world leaders at the United Nations in New York in 2000.

The Bank Group’s President, Mr. Omar Kabbaj, enumerated the measures put in place to help African countries achieve the MDGs in a speech he delivered at the Thirty-eight Session of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, which closed in Abuja on Sunday.

Joint Evaluation on Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) launches background studies

Work is now underway on the preparation of the background studies for this major independent evaluation with IFAD under the coordination of Mr. Detlev Puetz on OPEV’s side.  They will lead to the production of an interim report in January-February 2008 and the final report by December once field-work is completed.
