AfDB to Support Implementation

Tunis, 18 July 2007 – Liberia has become the 14th African country to join the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), a global coalition of governments, companies, civil society groups and investors devoted to ensuring that proceeds from extractive industries such as petrol, diamond and gold, among many others, are used to develop countries in which the minerals are found and improve the living conditions of the people.

ADB Supports African Women in Business

Tunis, 18 April 2005 – A Pan-African conference on "Promoting the Development of African Women in Business (AWIB) 1: Towards Economic and Social Leadership", opens at the Hotel Hilton Yaoundé in Cameroon on Monday, under the auspices of the Private Sector Department of the African Development Bank (ADB). The event is being co-organized with the African Network for Support to Women Entrepreneurs (ANSWE) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

Accelerating the Implementation of NEPAD

The summit, which took place in Abuja, Nigeria, discussed broadly the question of accelerating the implementation of the NEPAD Short Term Action Plan (STAP) for infrastructure. In particular, the summit offered two days of intensive brainstorming on which mechanisms would be best suited to build capacity at the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) level.
