NEPAD-IPPF 6th Oversight Committee meeting
NEPAD-IPPF is a facility, hosted by the African Development Bank’s NEPAD, Regional Integration and Trade Department (ONRI), that assists African countries, Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and related institutions prepare high quality and viable infrastructure projects and programs with a regional/continental outlook, to ensure sustainable regional economic development integration through cooperation among African countries, donors and the private sector.
AfDB Group’s Malawi Field Office Opens for Business
Lilongwe, 20 June 2007 – The African Development Bank Group’s Malawi Field Office (MWFO) is open for business following the presentation of letters of accreditation by the Resident Representative, Mr. Frank Kufakwandi, to the country’s foreign affairs minister, Hon Joyce Banda, on Tuesday in Lilongwe.
Mr. Kufakwandi informed the minister about the Bank’s appreciation of the country’s achievement in macroeconomic stability, its growth rate of 8% in 2006, and its improved performance in the agriculture sector which recorded a bumper harvest during the 2006 season.
CRMU presented the IRM to the Bank's field offices
Tunis, 20 June 2007 - CRMU presented the Independent Review Mechanism (IRM) to staff from the Bank’s field offices at a seminar in Tunis on strengthening the function of field offices. The CRMU director emphasized the importance of the independence of the IRM and to create confidence in the mechanism among its potential beneficiaries. He also informed that according to the IRM rules, before a complaint can be handled by the CRMU, affected people shall first have tried to resolve their problems with the Bank’s staff and management.

Tunis, 15 June 2007 – The Group of Eight (G8) industrial nations have welcomed the current work of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on post-conflict and fragile states. In a statement on Friday to the Bank’s Board of Directors, Alternate Executive Director Lily Talapessy, speaking on behalf of the German G8 Presidency, said the G8 had also called on the AfDB and the World Bank to implement the Energy Access Action Plan for Africa.
