The African Development Fund Supports the Education Sector in Eritrea with a USD 19.2 million Grant
The African Development Bank’s Group Board of Directors approved an African Development Fund (ADF) grant of USD 19.2 million to Eritrea on November 30, 2011 to improve equitable access, quality and relevance of technical, vocational education and training. The project will be financed jointly by an ADF grant of USD 18.65 million and an Eritrean Government’s contribution of USD 2.06 million.

On 14 December 2011 in Tunis African Development Bank (AfDB) Group Board of Directors, approved two financing vehicles to support the project.
AfDB lends USD 8 million to Help Open Doors to Education and Jobs in Namibia
The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved on 7 December a corporate loan of South African rand (ZAR) 65 million equivalent to USD 8 million to Trustco Group Holdings Ltd to support the Trustco Finance student lending program thus improving access to education, employability and job-earning potential of high school graduates in the country.
New General Conditions Applicable to Loan and Guarantee Agreements
New general conditions applicable to loan and guarantee agreements of the African Development Bank Group as well as protocol of agreements become effective as of January 1st 2009.
These new conditions had been adopted by the Boards of Directors of the Bank and the Fund in May 2008 in Maputo.
The revised general conditions contain standard provisions applicable to financing provided by the AfDB Group and knowledge of the provisions is essential to the proper negotiation of financing agreements as well as the implementation of the related projects.
