AfDB Approves 10th Drinking Water Supply Project in Morocco
Tunis, 19 November 2008 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved US$ 97.2 million (33.84 million Euros and 53.34 million dollars) loan to finance Morocco’s 10th Drinking Water Supply Project, bringing the Bank Group’s overall commitment in the country to US$ 5.64 billion in 93 operations since the Bank started operations in the country in 1970.
AfDB Approves 11.5 million Euros for Rural Infrastructure Projects
Le conseil d’administration du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a approuvé le financement du projet d’infrastructures rurales, pastorales et de transhumance (PIRPT) au Tchad, pour un montant de 11,5 millions d’euros dont 50% de prêt et 50% de dons. Ces fonds seront prélevés sur les ressources du Fonds Africain de Développement (FAD, guichet concessionnel du Groupe de la BAD).
Le PIRPT sera mis en œuvre sur une durée de cinq ans (2011-2016).
AfDB’s response to the food crisis: first batch of projects
The financial crisis is an additional burden to African leaders already saddled with a food crisis hurting Africans. The African Development Bank (AfDB) is at the forefront of efforts aimed at finding a solution to the problem. In this regard, it has added US$1 billion to its agricultural portfolio, taking it up to US$ 4.8 billion. It has also restructured some of its agricultural portfolio to provide a rapid disbursement facility to the tune of US$ 250 million.
