AfDB re-engages with Seychelles
Bank Group President, Donald Kaberuka, arrived in Seychelles on Saturday, July 26, 2008, on an official visit. While in the country, Mr. Kaberuka met with Seychelles’ President James Michel, Vice-President Joseph Belmont as well as other senior government officials and members of the business community. Discussions during his meetings focused on global crises, the manner in which the country was coping with the issues, the mechanisms in place that are helping the country cushion the effects of the crises and the country’s reform process.
Evaluation of the Implementation of the Paris Declaration: Brief Summary of Key Messages available
The synthesis study, based on 19 country and agency reviews, on which the Brief Summary of keys messages is is based concludes that much more work is needed to ensure awareness and uptake of the Paris Declaration principles, and that this needs to be undertaken as a major political initiative, both North and South, rather than as a technical or bureaucratic exercise. The study throws light on how each of the principles has been addressed by agencies and partner countries, and concludes with key lessons and recommendations, for discussion at the Accra High Level Forum in September.
The AfDB and Partners to Sponsor Validation Meeting on Trade
A Validation Workshop Follow-up on the recommendations of the EU-Africa Business Forum Working Group on Trade Issues is scheduled to take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria, July 23 and 24, 2008.
The event is being sponsored by the ACP Business Climate Facility, BizClim, and the African Development Bank.
AfDB Partners Discuss New Initiatives to Support Regional Integration

Tunes, Tunisia – 8 de Julho de 2008 – O Banco Africano de Desenvolvimento (BAD) e a Microsoft assinaram hoje um acordo sobre o aumento do acesso às Tecnologias da Informação e da Comunicação (TIC) em benefício dos africanos.
O objectivo desta nova parceria é o de reduzir a disparidade digital que existe em África, particularmente entre as sub-regiões, entre os países, bem como entre os centros urbanos e rurais.
