AfDB and EIB Finalise Financing Agreement For Cape Verde Wind Farm
The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), on Tuesday, 14 December 2010, closed the financing agreement to provide € 45 million to design, construct and operate onshore wind farms on four islands in the Cape Verde archipelago. This will be one of the largest wind projects in Africa and first renewable energy public private partnership in sub-Saharan Africa.

AfDB Calls for Deeper Regional Integration - Tool for growth and employment creation in Southern Africa
Pretoria, 14 March, 2011 - African Development Bank (AfDB) President Donald Kaberuka has affirmed his institution’s strong commitment to enhancing regional integration and growth in Southern Africa.
Addressing the media close to the end of a six-day official visit to the region, Dr. Kaberuka said the AfDB had done well in terms of the volume of its support to South Africa and the broader SADC region but still had to do more in view of the challenges that still abound.
AfDB Group Commits US$ 1 Billion More to Tackle Food Crisis, Raises Agriculture Portfolio to US$ 4.8 Billion
Tunis, 5 May 2008 – The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Donald Kaberuka, announced in Tunis that the Bank Group would add US$1 billion to its agriculture portfolio, raised to US$ 4.8 billion, as part of a short-term action to help address the food crisis in its regional member countries.
In a statement to the media, Mr. Kaberuka said the Bank Group would also restructure some of its agriculture portfolio to provide a rapid disbursement facility to the tune of US$ 250 million.
AfDB focuses minds on how to evaluate Public-Private Partnerships
AfDB hosted a workshop on 24th and 25th April to look at questions relating to the evaluation of Public-Private Partnership interventions. The experiences of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the conduct of evaluations were reviewed and the experiences of the Development Bank for Southern Africa and the UK government were also considered.
