AfDB Approves 5th Line of Credit to DBSA

Tunis, 7 February 2010 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved on Thursday, 3 February 2011 in Tunis, a USD 300-million line of credit (LOC) to the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) for on-lending to infrastructure projects within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

The 5th DBSA LOC will accelerate sustainable socio-economic development by funding physical, social and economic infrastructure projects. Major sectors will include:

BAD-Centrafrique : Appui budgétaire de 5 millions d’euros

La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a approuvé, le 1er février 2011, un don de plus de 5 millions d’Euros à la République centrafricaine (RCA) pour aider à renforcer la gestion de son budget et à améliorer le climat des affaires dans ce pays. Le don a été prélevé sur le guichet du Fonds africain de développement (FAD). En matière de gestion des finances publiques, le don contribuera à renforcer les capacités des structures opérationnelles de gestion des finances publiques dans le cadre du Programme global de réforme des finances publiques (PARCGEF).

2008 AfDB Economic Conference

In collaboration with the UN-ECA, the African Development Bank is organizing the third African Economic Conference in Tunis, Tunisia, on 12-14 November 2008. On the theme of "Globalization, Institutions and Economic Development of Africa", the Conference will consist of plenary as well as break-out sessions. Plenary speakers will be outstanding scholars in various fields of economics invited as special guests. Break-out sessions will be based on submitted papers.

AfDB Fragile States Facility Enables Somalia Prepare First Budget in 20 years

"The African Development Bank needs to be relevant to all its Regional Member Countries (RMCs), and that includes fragile states. These are states in need of our expertise and support. We must continue to uphold the vision and boldness the Deputies had when they founded this initiative. African Development Bank, NEPAD and World Bank call for increased investments in agricultural water in Africa

Tunis, March 27, 2008 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), and the World Bank today called for an increase in funding and a renewed focus on agricultural water management in Africa, including irrigation, drainage and rainwater harvesting.
