The Boards of Directors of the African Development Bank Group today in Tunis approved the equivalent of USD 436 million for the financing of Morocco’s power project, and two other investments in Africa.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has launched the second call for proposals under the Migration and Development Fund (MDF). This second call for proposals, open from 15 April to 31 May 2012, is targeting project sponsors in Central Africa and the Indian Ocean.

The African Development Bank Group and the World Bank Group join the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in condemning the military coup in Guinea-Bissau, urging a speedy resolution of the crisis, and calling for the restoration of constitutional government to preserve the development gains of the country and its people.  

The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Kenya’s Geothermal Development Company (GDC) have launched the Menengai geothermal project, designed to produce electricity for 500,000 households and displace two million tons of CO2 per annum.

GDC is a state-owned company charged with boosting geothermal energy generation in Kenya. The project, launched on 12 April in Nairobi, is the first geothermal project developed exclusively by GDC.

First regional consultation shows AfDB’s commitment to environmental and social sustainability

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has embarked on a consultation exercise across Africa on its proposed Integrated Safeguards System (ISS).  It is conferring with governments and representatives of civil society and the private sector.
