On Wednesday, October 8, Publish What You Fund launched its annual Aid Transparency Index* (ATI) in Washington, DC. The index shows the African Development Bank (AfDB) is one of the strongest performers on transparency, ranking in the top 10 of 68 donors. The AfDB has made significant progress to improve the transparency of its aid information since 2013.

As the Ebola death toll continues to rise and fear over the epidemic grows, African Development Bank Group President Donald Kaberuka offered assurances to the international community Thursday morning in Washington, DC. "We can deal with it. We can resolve this matter and the African Development Bank will play its part."

The President also called for caution as he addressed world leaders in finance, politics and health at a high-level strategy meeting held at the International Monetary Fund to help fight the disease.

Nine members of the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group will visit Uganda from 23-28 February to consult with the authorities on AfDB-funded programmes in the country.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has made two grant agreements totaling € 2.9 million (FCFA 1.9 billion) to fund governmental reforms and the country’s 2012 action plan.

The loans come under the AfDB’s Fragile States Facility. The minister for the economy and finance, Adji Othèth Ayassor, represented the Togolese government with the AfDB resident representative in the country, Serge N'Guessan, acting for the Bank.

The 9th African Economic Conference (AEC) will take place at the UN Conference Center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from November 1^st to 3, 2014 under the theme “Knowledge and Innovation for Africa’s Transformation”. The conference is organized each year by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
