From November 25 to 27, the Africa Water Facility (AWF) engaged stakeholders in a series of activities to conduct an evaluation of its performance in the last decade and also to map out a Long-Term Strategy going forward.

On November 25, a strategy review was conducted as the current AWF Strategic Plan extends only until the end of 2016. As the AWF reaches the mid-point in its intended life-cycle, such a milestone naturally provides an opportunity to reflect on the past 10 years and chart the way forward for the 2017-2030 strategic period.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) welcomes the new infusion of US $248 million for the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), which was announced Monday at the global climate summit in Paris.

Eight multilateral development banks today issued a joint statement, committing to accelerate their efforts to mitigate transport emissions and recognizing the need for more action on the resilience of transport to climate change.  The sector accounts for about 60% of global oil consumption, 27% of all energy use, and 23% of world energy-related CO₂ emissions.
