42nd Session of the ADEA Steering Committee: Sustainability, Transitioning and Ownership
The Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) will convene the 42nd Session of its Steering Committee in Abidjan at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) offices, in CCIA Building, from Thursday, December 3, to Saturday, December 5, 2015. This will be the first ADEA Steering Committee meeting to be held in Abidjan since the AfDB, ADEA’s host institution, returned to its Abidjan headquarters in 2014.
ALSF Management Board concludes meeting to plan for 2016
The Management Board of the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) met on November 27, 2015 and discussed the work plan and budget for 2016. The Board also assessed key achievements of projects that seek to enhance the continent’s legal capacity.
African Development Bank has provided decisive support to stop the spread of Ebola in Mali
The African Development Bank’s (AfDB) extremely rapid intervention in Mali after a first case of Ebola was detected has halted the spread of the epidemic in the country.
“The AfDB support, both in the preparation and the response phases, was exceptional in its speed and the level of resources mobilized,” said Ibrahima Fall Socé, head of the UN Mission for emergency action against Ebola in Mali.
“Women Let’s Talk”: AfDB launches national radio program dedicated to women’s empowerment in Liberia
The Resident Representative of the African Development Bank Group in Liberia, Margaret Kilo, launched a national radio broadcasting program dedicated to women’s empowerment as an early celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls and the 16 Days of Activism, which kicked off on Wednesday, November 25. The official ceremony was hosted by Liberian Vice-President, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, on Tuesday, November 24, in partnership with other development institutions such as UN Women in Liberia.
Lake Turkana Wind Power Project nominated Power Deal of the Year in 2014
The Lake Turkana Wind Power Project (LTWP) reaches financial close following an eight-year journey.
Earlier this month, the EUR 623-million project marked a significant milestone with financial close, making it the largest private investment in Kenya’s history. This project has won several awards and has been recently nominated as the ‘African Renewable Deal of the Year 2014’ by Thomson Reuters Project Finance International.
