The paper, Africa’s Climate Opportunity: Adapting and Thriving, explains how the COP21 climate talks in Paris in December can help Africa deal with the threat and seize the opportunity.
AfDB moves ahead on first Africa Visa Openness Index and showcases Rwanda and Mauritius as top performers
The African Development Bank has moved ahead on finalizing the first Africa Visa Openness Index. The Index ranks African countries on the level of openness/restrictiveness of their visa regimes. Its aim is to drive visa policy reforms across Africa, simplify visa application procedures and encourage positive reciprocity.
AfDB President in Paris for decisive co-financing agreement with French Development Agency
African Development Bank (AfDB) President Akinwumi Adesina and the CEO of the French Development Agency (AFD) Anne Paugam signed a framework agreement at the AFD headquarters in Paris to increase the joint financing of projects in Sub-Saharan and North Africa.
“This agreement, the first of its kind, is fully in line with the Paris Declaration. It promotes better coordination between AfDB and AFD; it simplifies procedures and thus contributes to facilitating implementation of projects by beneficiary countries,” said Paugam.
AfDB Group signs loan agreement with Nigeria’s LAPO Microfinance Bank
The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and LAPO Microfinance Bank Ltd. signed a loan agreement for Nigerian Naira 2.364 billion (approximately US $12 million) on November 17, 2015 to support inclusive growth in Nigeria and also support local SMEs in the country.
