Africa: Smart measures required to weather commodity boom-bust cycles
Governments in Africa should put into place fiscal rules, sovereign wealth funds and other mechanisms to buffer their economies from the commodities roller-coaster, according to a new report issued during the 10th African Economic Conference by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
La BAD octroie 30 milliards de FCFA au Cameroun pour un projet de fibre optique en Afrique centrale
La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) et le Cameroun ont signé, le jeudi 29 octobre 2015 à Yaoundé, un accorde prêt de 46,301 millions d’euros, soit plus de 30 milliards de francs CFA destiné au projet Dorsale à fibre optique d’Afrique centrale (en anglais, Central African Backbone).
La Banque contribue au financement du projet à travers un prêt sur le guichet BAD de 37,304 millions d’euros et un don du Fonds pour l’environnement mondial (FEM) de 1,726 millions de dollars EU. La contrepartie camerounaise est de 7,427 millions d’euros.

AfDB issues 0.75% US$ 1 billion global benchmark due 3 November 2017
On Tuesday, October 27, 2015, the African Development Bank (AfDB) successfully launched and priced a new 1 billion 2-year US dollar global benchmark due November 3, 2017. This is the AfDB’s second US dollar global benchmark of the year following a successful 5-year benchmark transaction executed in February, and its first 2-year global benchmark since 2009.
The 2-year benchmark transaction was announced on Monday, October 26th at 1:30 p.m. London time with initial pricing thoughts in the area of mid-swaps +12 basis points area.
AfDB Approves US$ 285 million for infrastructure, SMEs and Youth Employment projects in Tunisia, Kenya and Togo
The Board of Directors of the Africa Development Bank Group (AfDB) on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 approved combined funding amounting to US $284.97 million in support of road infrastructure projects in Tunisia, an SMEs development project in Kenya, and a youth employability and integration in growth sectors project in Togo.
